Lakhamandal Temple in Uttarakhand is an ancient shrine dedicated to Lord Shiva. It’s believed to be the site where Duryodhana plotted against the Pandavas. Located approximately 323 km from New Delhi, the temple is accessible via a scenic drive. The optimal time to visit is between October and March, when the weather is pleasant and the surroundings are lush.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Why is Lakhamandal Temple Famous?<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n

Locals believe that Lakhamandal<\/a> is where Duryodhana planned to burn the Pandavas alive in the Lakshagriha, a shellac house, from the Mahabharata. This connection adds to the temple\u2019s spiritual and historical significance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is also believed that when someone was near death, standing in front of these statues would briefly bring them back to life before they passed away. Danav was thought to take the soul to Lord Vishnu, while Manav temporarily kept the person alive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Near the main temple are two statues, Danav and Manav, which serve as its gatekeepers. Some people think these statues represent Bhima and Arjuna, but the Archaeological Survey of India suggests otherwise. One statue has an inscription at its base, possibly reading \u201cVijayah,\u201d referring to Jai and Vijay, Lord Vishnu\u2019s gatekeepers.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
