Best Time to Visit Chopta

The best time to plan your Chopta tour is between April and June or September to November. During these months, the weather is cool, skies are clear, and the roads are safe. You can see blooming flowers in spring and colorful trees in autumn. Avoid the rainy season (July-August) because of landslides, and winter (December-February) if you’re not used to snow and very cold temperatures.

Tungnath Temple – World's Highest Shiva Temple

Tungnath is the highest Shiva temple in the world. It sits at 3,680 meters above sea level. The 3.5 km trek starts from Chopta and takes around 4–5 hours for a round trip. The path is well-maintained and lined with beautiful rhododendron trees. Once you reach the temple, the view is breathtaking, and you feel very peaceful. The temple is open from April to November.

Chandrashila Peak – The Best Viewpoint in Chopta

Once you reach the top, you’ll see a 360-degree view of some of India’s highest Himalayan peaks like Nanda Devi, Chaukhamba, Trishul, and Bandarpunch. Many people climb here to watch the sunrise, which is truly magical.

Perfect 3 Day Chopta Chandrshila Trek Itinerary from Delhi

Day 1: Delhi to Chopta (Approx. 420 km / 10–12 hours)

You’ll leave Delhi around 9:00 PM for an overnight journey to Chopta. Early morning, around 6:00 AM, stop at Devprayag to enjoy the river confluence, followed by a quick visit to Dhari Devi Temple around 8:00 AM. Continue via Srinagar and Rudraprayag, reaching Chopta by 1:00–2:00 PM. Check in, relax, explore the surroundings, and acclimatise for the trek. Enjoy dinner and an overnight stay in Chopta.

Day 2: Tungnath–Chandrashila Trek (Trek Distance: 8–9 km / 5–7 hours)

Start your day with an early breakfast at the resort and then begin the 3.5 km trek from Chopta to Tungnath Temple. After offering prayers at Tungnath, continue your hike up to Chandrashila Peak for stunning Himalayan views. Return to Chopta by afternoon and enjoy some free time to relax at the resort. Later, have dinner and settle in for an overnight stay in Chopta.

Day 3: Chopta – Deoriatal – Delhi (Approx. 420 km / 10–12 hours)

Start early from Chopta around 6:00 AM and drive to Sari Village. From here, begin your 2.5 km short trek to Deoriatal and enjoy the lake views. Head back to Sari by 12:00 PM, return to your resort for breakfast, and check out. After that, begin your return drive to Delhi. You’ll reach Delhi by midnight.
