Best Time for Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from New Delhi
The best time to plan a Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from Delhi is May–June and September–October. May and June have pleasant weather but are also the busiest months, so expect more traffic, higher hotel demand and longer queues around the temples.
September and October are our preferred months for travellers who want fewer crowds and clearer post-monsoon mountain views. We generally avoid recommending July and August because heavy rainfall can cause landslides, roadblocks and unexpected delays on the hill route.
How Many Days Are Required for Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from New Delhi?
We recommend 7 Nights / 8 Days for a comfortable Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from New Delhi. Since Delhi itself is several hours from the Uttarakhand hills, the extra days allow overnight stops at Haridwar and Rishikesh instead of combining them with already-long mountain drives.
The itinerary includes 1 night in Haridwar, 2 nights in Guptkashi, 1 night in Kedarnath, 2 nights in Joshimath and 1 night in Rishikesh. This gives you dedicated time for the Kedarnath trek and Badrinath darshan without making every day a long travel day.
Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from New Delhi by Private Car
A private car is the most practical option for completing the Kedar-Badri Yatra from Delhi, particularly for families, couples and senior travellers. You have the same vehicle for the road journey, which gives you flexibility for meal breaks, sightseeing stops and hotel transfers.
The route follows Delhi → Haridwar → Guptkashi → Sonprayag/Gaurikund → Kedarnath → Guptkashi → Joshimath → Badrinath → Rishikesh → Delhi. The vehicle covers the road journey; Kedarnath requires a 16–18 km trek from Gaurikund, while Badrinath is reached by road. Your current package already includes a private car.
Delhi to Kedarnath & Badrinath Distance, Route & Travel Time
The road journey from Delhi to Kedarnath is approximately 450 km up to the roadhead, followed by the Kedarnath trek, while Delhi to Badrinath is approximately 530 km by road. Because Kedarnath cannot be reached completely by car, the road journey continues towards Sonprayag/Gaurikund, followed by the 16–18 km trek from Gaurikund to Kedarnath. Badrinath, on the other hand, is accessible by road.
For the complete yatra, the practical route is Delhi → Haridwar → Guptkashi → Sonprayag → Gaurikund → Kedarnath → Guptkashi → Joshimath → Badrinath → Rishikesh → Delhi. Rather than looking at the journey as one continuous drive, it is better planned over 7 Nights / 8 Days with proper overnight halts.
Is Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from New Delhi Suitable for Senior Citizens?
Yes, senior citizens can undertake the Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from New Delhi, but Kedarnath portion needs more careful planning. Badrinath is comparatively easier because the temple is accessible by road, whereas Kedarnath involves a 16–18 km uphill trek from Gaurikund at high altitude.
For elderly travellers, we recommend a private vehicle, comfortable overnight stays and enough rest between long driving days. Pony or palki services can be considered if completing the Kedarnath trek on foot is difficult. Anyone with existing health concerns should speak with their doctor before undertaking the high-altitude journey.
How Difficult is the Kedarnath Trek During Kedar-Badri Yatra?
Kedarnath trek is approximately 16–18 km from Gaurikund and is the most physically demanding part of the Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from New Delhi. The route is mostly uphill and reaches a high altitude, so the time required depends on your fitness, weather conditions and crowd levels.
We recommend keeping a full day for the upward trek rather than trying to complete Kedarnath darshan and return to Guptkashi on the same day. Our itinerary includes an overnight stay at Kedarnath, followed by the downhill trek the next morning, which makes the journey much more manageable. Your current page follows this same two-day trek structure.
Travellers who find the 16–18 km trek difficult can consider pony or palki services from the Gaurikund side. Senior citizens and anyone with health concerns should plan the Kedarnath portion carefully and avoid rushing the climb.

Excellent rating
Based on 164 reviews Excellent support through out the booking process, and during the Badrinath Yatra and Darshan! Sudhanshu S. JhaThe Chardham is not for the week. But if you need a team who could make it as comfortable as possible to you, then Travel Vaidya is that team for you. From the registration to the end of the journey, it's great support that they offer. Ravi was my travel consultant from the beginning and he supported me the entire way of the journey, for almost 6 months from the day I contacted him and booked my travel to the end of the 12 days of my journey. Kamal was my driver. The way Krishna led Partha, he guided me, and supported me the entire 12 days of my journey. Such a nice person and excellent driver he is.... Thanks again Travel Vaidya, for the once in a life time experience I had with you.... pradeesh cbReally trip went very well.Trip advisor Ms.Anchal and driver Mr.sunil made our journey comfortable and excellent.I am very happy for choosen them. lalith aGood experience right from booking the chardham yatra to every step guidance, flexible payment modes and extremely helpful Mr. Ravikant. The hotels arranged were good but some did have their own local issue based hiccups which is not much under anyone's control. Breakfast and dinner arranged by all these hotels were excellent. Lastly, the driver for our trip was thoroughly professional with good knowledge of local intricacies which helped us in multiple situations. Sunil SidharthanI arranged a trip to Yamunotri Gangotri and Mussoorie through them. They organised the hotels and transportation. I was quite happy with their approach and professionalism. The hotels suggested and booked by them were quite good and the car provided was also as promised. They were quick to respond to my queries before the start of the trip and also kept in touch with the Driver throughout the trip to monitor the movement. I highly recommend their services to anyone seeking to travel to Uttarakhand. Krishna DamaniI recently completed the Do Dham Yatra (Kedarnath and Badrinath) with Travel Vaidya, and I am extremely satisfied with their service. A special thanks to Ravi Upadhyay, who supported us throughout the entire journey. He was always patient, polite, and very responsive whenever we had any questions or needed assistance. His calm and professional approach made our trip completely stress-free. All the arrangements, including accommodation, food, transportation, and overall planning, were excellent. Everything was well organized and executed perfectly, allowing us to enjoy our pilgrimage without any concerns. I truly appreciate the efforts of the Travel Vaidya team, especially Ravi Upadhyay, for making our Do Dham Yatra comfortable, smooth, and memorable. I would highly recommend their services to anyone planning a spiritual journey. Mayank PatelI recently did the Do Dham Yatra by helicopter with Travel Vaidya, Dehradun. Their customer service was prompt and clear, making the booking process smooth. Hotels were decent and well-located, especially in Sersi near the helipad. The driver was courteous and helpful. The darshan at Kedarnath and Badrinath was divine and truly uplifting, deeply honoring Hindu sentiments. However, the 3rd party helicopter company, Himalayan Heli-services, lacked timely communication about flight schedules and meal breaks, causing some confusion. Also, the itinerary was changed unexpectedly due to ‘helicopter license’ issues, leading to a tiring same-day visit to Kedarnath and Badrinath and missing Mana village. Better coordination and clearer updates would improve the experience. Overall, a blessed pilgrimage with scope for smoother logistics. Will recommend for all solo women, foreign citizens and families who want to do Char Dham Yatra. Travel Vaidya exceeded my expectations. Hansi GWe are group of Six all are 50 plus age. Excellent arrangement for helitour for DoDham Kedarnath and Badrinath.VIP Dharsan, Hotel and Temple guide arrangements are superb. Total tour cost was very much reasonable. We are happy with them. I suggest Travel Vidya any one who wants to do yatra. Kulandhaivel PalaniyandiWe ( myself and wife ) both senior citizens from Mumbai used the Travel Vaidya Helicopter package for Char Dham from 6th to 10th May 2026. Travel Vaidya have a tie up with another company called Heliyatra who in fact manage the entire tour. Throughout the package tour it is the Heliyatra staff who assisted us with Helicopter travel , Hotel stay and special darshan. However for some unknown reason Heliyatra name is not disclosed to the travellers till yatra starts. The services of Heliyatra were not satisfactory. They run two copters . Their staff warns you about waiting time at each Helipad which stretches from 15 min to 4/5 hrs. Reasons for delay are weather or no permission from ATC . We found at many occasions that other Helicopter companies were taking off with their flights but Heliyatra 2 copters were missing. Also we had paid for special pooja in advance at Badrinanth temple but Heliyatra staff failed to book our pooja slot and we sought refund but returned disappointed. So beware of this intermediary who remains hidden but who actually is responsible for the tour. Milind KamatHad a very enjoyable Do dham trip . Everything was planned and went accordingly. Slight changes in the helicopter schedule. Other than that hotels provided by Travel Vaidya during the entire tour were very good. Jyoti Warty

Frequently Asked Questions
1. How many days are required for Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from Delhi?
Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from Delhi is best planned for 7 Nights / 8 Days. This allows comfortable overnight stops at Haridwar, Guptkashi, Kedarnath, Joshimath and Rishikesh, while keeping enough time for Kedarnath trek and Badrinath darshan. A shorter itinerary is possible, but it usually means longer driving days and a more tiring journey.
2. What is the route for Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from New Delhi?
The most practical route is Delhi → Haridwar → Guptkashi → Sonprayag → Gaurikund → Kedarnath → Guptkashi → Joshimath → Badrinath → Rishikesh → Delhi. Kedarnath is reached after trekking from Gaurikund, whereas Badrinath is directly accessible by road. This route also avoids unnecessary backtracking between the two Dhams.
3. What is the distance from Delhi to Kedarnath and Badrinath?
Delhi to the Kedarnath side is approximately 450 km by road. From Gaurikund, pilgrims then trek approximately 16–18 km to Kedarnath Temple. Delhi to Badrinath is approximately 530 km by road. For a combined Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from Delhi, it is more useful to plan the journey day-wise rather than attempting these long mountain distances in one stretch.
4. What is included in the Kedarnath Badrinath package from New Delhi?
A private Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra package from Delhi typically includes pickup and drop in Delhi, private transportation, hotel accommodation, breakfast and dinner, fuel, tolls, parking and driver charges. Depending on the package, travellers can choose Budget, Deluxe or Premium hotels. Personal expenses and optional services such as pony, palki or helicopter tickets are normally charged separately.
4. How difficult is Kedarnath trek during the Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from Delhi?
Kedarnath trek is approximately 16–18 km from Gaurikund and involves a continuous uphill climb at high altitude. It is manageable for reasonably fit travellers, but it can be tiring for first-time pilgrims and senior citizens. We recommend keeping a full day for the upward journey and staying overnight at Kedarnath instead of attempting the trek both ways on the same day.
5. Do we have to trek for Badrinath as well?
No. Badrinath Temple is accessible by road, so there is no long trek involved. In this itinerary, you travel from Joshimath to Badrinath by vehicle, complete darshan and nearby sightseeing, and return to Joshimath.
6. Is Kedarnath Badrinath yatra from Delhi suitable for senior citizens?
Yes, Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from Delhi can be planned for senior citizens, provided the itinerary has enough rest and comfortable overnight stops. Badrinath is comparatively easier because it is accessible by road. Kedarnath requires more preparation because of the trek and altitude. Senior travellers who cannot comfortably walk the entire route can consider pony or palki services.
7. Where should we stay during Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from Delhi?
For a comfortable 7 Nights / 8 Days itinerary, overnight stays can be planned at Haridwar, Guptkashi, Kedarnath, Joshimath and Rishikesh. Staying overnight at Kedarnath is particularly useful because it avoids rushing the 16–18 km trek and temple darshan on the same day. Accommodation at Kedarnath is more basic than hotels in Haridwar, Guptkashi, Joshimath or Rishikesh because of its remote high-altitude location.
8. What is the best time for Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from Delhi?
The best periods are generally May–June and September–October. May and June are popular but also see heavier pilgrim traffic. September and October are often better for travellers who prefer fewer crowds and clearer post-monsoon mountain views. July and August are monsoon months, when landslides, roadblocks and weather-related delays can affect the journey.
9. Is Char Dham registration required for Kedarnath and Badrinath?
Yes. Yatra registration is mandatory for pilgrims visiting Kedarnath and Badrinath. Registration should ideally be completed before starting the journey, and pilgrims should keep their registration details or QR code available for verification during the yatra. The official Uttarakhand Tourism registration system covers both Kedarnath and Badrinath.
10. Can we take a pony or palki to Kedarnath?
Yes. Pony and palki services are available for Kedarnath trek and are useful for senior citizens or pilgrims who cannot comfortably complete the trek on foot. These services are separate from the regular Kedarnath Badrinath Yatra from Delhi package and should be budgeted for separately.
