It is also part of the Chota Char Dham circuit in Uttarakhand, making it a must-visit for Vaishnavites and devotees from across India. Believed to be revived by Adi Shankaracharya in the 8th century, the temple’s significance goes back much further, with mentions in the Skanda Purana and Mahabharata. Legends say Lord Vishnu meditated here while Goddess Lakshmi took the form of a Badri tree to shelter him, giving the dham its name.
• Badrinath is part of the Char Dham route and a top pilgrimage spot in Uttarakhand.
• Temple stays open from May to November—most people visit in these months.
• Place is quiet, clean, and surrounded by mountains and the Alaknanda river.
• You can also see Mana Village, Tapt Kund, and Vasudhara Falls nearby.
• Good for families and older people—easy to walk around, basic things available.
History and Significance of Shree Badrinath Temple
The history of Shree Badrinath Temple date back to ancient times, with historical accounts suggesting that it was initially a place of Buddhist worship. However, in the 8th century, Adi Shankaracharya is believed to have rediscovered the temple and reinstalled the idol of Lord Badrinarayan. Over time, the temple was renovated and expanded by various rulers, ensuring its continued significance as a major pilgrimage destination.
Significance:
• The temple is dedicated to Lord Badrinarayan (a form of Vishnu), who is worshipped in a meditative posture.
• It is part of the Char Dham Yatra and the Chota Char Dham in Uttarakhand, making it a must-visit for spiritual seekers.
• The temple holds importance in both Hindu mythology and religious texts, symbolizing salvation and spiritual growth.

- Avoid monsoon months (July–August) due to road risks and possible landslides.
- Carry warm clothes, even in summer—mornings and evenings get cold.
- Choose hotels near the temple to avoid long or uphill walks.
- Take breaks on the road, especially during the Joshimath to Badrinath stretch (it’s tiring and has sharp turns).
- Keep basic medicines, ORS, and dry snacks handy—pharmacies are limited.
- Stay hydrated and walk slowly to avoid altitude discomfort.
- Avoid heavy meals if you’re doing short treks like Vasudhara Falls or Charan Paduka.

Travel Vaidya 118 Google reviews Guruveer C R2025-09-29Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. Based on Tripadvisor reviews we booked our tour with Travel Vaidya. Our point of contact throughout the entire tour (Pre-booking and while on trip) was Akshay. Once we confirmed our dates, he shared a detailed plan for the travel dates. Our plan was to visit teen dham (Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath) and Tunganath as we had already visited Badrinath last year. The tour start date was 14-SEP. At that time, Yamunotri road was reporting issues and there were closures / partial openings etc. Hence, the tour was modified to cover Tunganath, Kedarnath, Gangotri and Yamunotri as this was more feasible. At all these places hotel accommodations were booked and managed by the tour operator and we did not face any issues with these bookings. The taxi service provided was very good. Our Sarathi was Raju Rajveer Singh was very professional and extremely skilled in plying these mountain roads. Driver was also very proactive in trying to get as much information from other drivers plying the routes in determining the road conditions etc. Special thanks for his service. The vehicle condition was good and we did not face any vehicle related issues during the entire trip. Akshay was also the point of contact during the tour duration and kept us updated regularly as and when our journey progressed on where our accommodation was for the day. Overall, the entire trip went smoothly and I highly recommend this tour operator for booking tours in Uttarakhand or any tours that they offer. kavita sahu2025-07-10Trustindex verifies that the original source of the review is Google. My mother and in-laws recently completed the Char Dham Yatra from 18th June to 28th June 2025 through Travel Vaidya, and I cannot express how grateful we are for the exceptional service provided throughout the journey. The entire trip was incredibly comfortable, well-organized, and completely hassle-free. Every detail was meticulously planned, and the execution was flawless — from transportation and accommodations to food and local support. A special mention goes to Srashti Ma'am, who was truly the backbone of the tour. She is nothing short of a superwoman — managing every aspect of the trip with remarkable efficiency, care, and professionalism. Her dedication ensured that all pilgrims, including our elderly family members, had a peaceful and enriching spiritual journey. We would also like to appreciate our driver, Ganga ji, who played a crucial role in making the journey safe and smooth. He is a very skilled and responsible driver, especially on the challenging mountain roads. His calm demeanor, helpful nature, and respectful attitude made everyone feel at ease. He was always ready to lend a hand and ensured that the pilgrims were comfortable and well taken care of throughout the journey. Travel Vaidya clearly stands out as a highly professional and reliable tour agency. Their personalized approach, attention to detail, and genuine care for customer satisfaction make them a top choice for pilgrimage tours. Only 2 of us, sr citizens, me and my wife travelled to Char Dham taking their services. 2) Vaidya Travel was responsible for providing us a car on the entire route starting from Dehradun airport to return to Dehradun airport and the hotels including 1 meal, 1 b/f. 3) The arrangements Vaidya Travels did are 100/100, excellent. 4) The car, the driver, the hotels, their locations wrt places of visit, coverage of all the places, the schedule they followed, their guidance and monitoring from time-to-time, everything was superb, they score 100%. 5) The driver Himanshu they provided was a local person & very knowledgeable of the entire route, a safe driver (which is most important in Uttarakhand), took our care enroute so nicely. He was very well mannered, courteous, cordial, punctual and an excellent company, like another family member. 6) We had to extend our stay at Kedarnath top due to bad weather and Mr Upadhyay from Vaidya Travels who was communicator, our coordinators from day 1, solved the change literally in a couple of minutes, which isn't so easy there. 7) Communications with Mr Upadhyay from Vaidya Travels has been a delight, extremely helpful. He is so fast, prompt, takes ownership, very thorough on this route, a store of good advisory and guidance when any query or requirement is placed to him. 8) And all of this came to us at a reasonable "quality to price ratio", compared to the quotes from a few other T&T companies. 9) Considering risks involved due to weather and roads there, we strongly recommend to use Vaidya Travels services if you are planning to visit Char Dham or places in Uttarakhand and nearby states.
